Once, years back, my father and i saw Devils tower, at least 70 some miles straight east of it because of a mirage. I always think they should be pronounced as Bugs Bunny did and called a miragee.

I've often wondered how a mirage would turn out on a photo. Now I know. WE get 'em when it's going to warm up in the winter. We haven't had any lately.

We get a lot of mirages this time of the year. Every few mornings I notice some sort of one. I took some better photos last winter of them, as they were real active that day.

Jinglebob, I would not say that what you saw was not a mirage of devils tower, but I think mirages can be extensions (for lack of a better word) of almost any hill or raise in the country. Just yesterday morning, I saw a mirage to the east of here that looked to be poking WAY up into the horizon, but it sure was neat looking.
